This Sherman Oaks residence was the first house designed and built by the designer, at 25 — a study in stark, white-stucco geometry, its cubic massing framed by a run of mature trees at the entry. A single dark wood door breaks the composition's otherwise unbroken planes.

Inside, large-scale skylights and clerestory transom windows flood the main level with light, unfilled travertine pavers running throughout in a cool, minimal palette of glass and steel. Exposed cinderblock fireplaces anchor both the living and dining rooms, their raw texture set deliberately against the home's smooth white walls.

The primary suite occupies its own dedicated level above, set apart from the rest of the house. Outside, a paved terrace furnished in tubular steel and mesh continues the home's spare, architectural language into the garden.
